The Society organises a series of regular lectures and other events on a wide range of topics relating to Libyan culture and heritage. The lectures are held at the British Academy, 10-11 Carlton House Terrace, London, SW1Y 5AH. Members living in the United Kingdom will receive invitations to all of these events. Non-members are also welcome to attend.

An Engraved Landscape: The Rock Carvings of the Wadi al-Ajal, Libya

The President and Council of the Society invite you and your friends to attend a lecture by Dr Tertia Barnett, entitled “Libyan Rock Art”, which will be held at the UCL Institute of Archaeology (Room 609), Gordon Square, London, on Tuesday 5 February, 2019, at 5.30 pm.

About Dr Barnett

Dr Tertia Barnett is Principal Investigator for the Scotland’s Rock Art Project, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council. She has a long-standing research interest in rock art, and has run a number of projects on this theme in Britain and North Africa. She has recently published the results of her rock art survey in the Wadi al-Ajal, Libya, between 2004 and 2009, funded by the Society for Libyan Studies and the British Academy.
